The Alouette III is a light utility helicopter designed and built in France by Aerospatiale. This type was predominantly operated by the armed services and introduced better performance, cabin size and payload over its predecessor the Allouette II. The Alouette III was developed in the mid fifties and series production commenced in 1961. Aerospatiale delivered 1500 of this type to 74 countries thereafter production under licence switched to India, Romania and Switzerland.
